BOB TV NEWS & EVENTSDAY THREE: BOB TV FILM FESTIVAL7:00 SOUNDCITY RED CARPET A mad crowd has clogged the entrance, pushing to get into the already crowded Hall. A far departure from what transpired during the day, the SOUNDCITY RED CARPET is as good as any A-List music concert. SOUNDCITY’S red carpet has been laid out and the performers will soon be walking it. Ordinarily, I can’t get past this throng but officials at the entrance pull me through. This is not the Hall the way I know it! Hall 1 and 2 have been joined for this and it’s bangin’. The crowd is listening to Nollywood star and Emcee of the show, Uche Udoputa, reeling out the list of performers to their loudly expressed pleasure. I hear Yibo Koko, filmmaker by day, returned to his stand-up comedy roots this night, thrilling the crowd with a variety of rib-crackers. He just got off the stage after cracking ribald, irreverent but supremely hilarious jokes, and the Jockey, DJ Slam, is playing club music. Klieg lights have been brought in, giving the dimmed hall a Nightclub feel. So, why a music concert at the BOB TV FILM FESTIVAL? Because movies and music are inseparable siblings, and in a forum where the serious issues of film are discussed, the lighthearted effect of music must temper things. And temper things they will, the music is up again and the crowd is surging towards the stage. And er … so am I. Speak with you in a bit. The crowd is agog as Soundcity super host, Denrele, in characteristic looks and craze, mounts the stage. The crowd is still cheering and it’s well over a minute. This man is an event all to himself, a superbrand. He also announces the artistes performing to the roaring cheers, and now, he’s dancing with a girl on stage. This kid was born to elicit cheer
